DAY 2: Why is God Against Adultery?
Adultery violates God’s original design for marriage. It is referred to as breaking faith and an expression of violence against the wife of your youth. Malachi 2:14-16 The Holy Bible, New International Version.
Mal 2:14 You ask, “Why?” It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.
Mal 2:15 Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. 6 So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
Mal 2:16 “I hate divorce,” says the LORD God of Israel, “and I hate a man’s covering himself 7 with violence as well as with his garment,” says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.
Imagine as a mother, you cook food for your family to eat together. Then, your husband and children take it out and serve the goats, pigs, dogs outside. In addition, they decide to take up the feed of the goats – the twigs and leaves and grass, and they serve this on the table. This is what we call ABUSE. Taking things that were meant for something noble and using them for ignoble purposes.
Abuse cannot be taken lightly. How does this mother feel? She cannot even express her anger and disappointment in such, it is overwhelmingly absurd. And so does God. He is grieved by adultery. Grieve just as love, seeks expression. The expression can be described by the law – capital punishment (Leviticus 20:10)
Lev 20:10. The Holy Bible, New International Version.
Lev 20:10 “ ‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife —with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.”
What God put together, let no man violate/ come amidst/ interfere or put asunder.
Ask yourself the following questions:
1. Am I a victim of the 7th Commandment –Thou Shall not commit adultery?
2. How does God feel about breaking this Commandment - Thou Shall not commit adultery?
3. What steps am I going to take to keep the 7th Commandment - Thou Shall not commit adultery?
